On February 1st at home, the Golden Eagles slipped by the Tigers in conference play, 75-72.

A couple key stats coming into the game: The Golden Eagles are very hard to beat on their own court, but the Tigers had been playing well and had won 4 out of their last 5. The Golden Eagles have now split regular season games, including a 60-58 loss earlier this year.

Southern Miss was able to overpower Memphis in rebounding and also came out ahead in assists.

Southern Miss made a huge difference on the glass, 36 rebounds to 23. Southern Miss spread the ball around and dished out 13 assists compared to nine for Memphis.

Darnell Dodson was the high scorer for the Golden Eagles with 23 points on 43% shooting in 33 minutes. LaShay Page contributed 10 big rebounds.

This brings the Golden Eagles up to 20-3. Their C-USA record improves to 7-1, good enough for 1st place. Their record against RPI Top 50 teams (Memphis #28) improves to 3-2. They also tacked another win onto a 5 game streak.
