In Hattiesburg on January 4th the Golden Eagles got by the Pirates, 78-76.

The Golden Eagles were supposed to win this game and did, but not by as much as expected. The RPI had Southern Miss as a much better team, #23 to #209. The Golden Eagles record at home is outstanding, but the Pirates were hot coming in (5 for 5). Last season, Southern Miss was 2-0 against East Carolina. Over the last four years, the Golden Eagles have a record of 8-1 with a record of 5-0 at Reed Green Coliseum.

Southern Miss took this one while dominating East Carolina in offensive rebounding and also coming out on top in turnover margin.
