StatSheet projects Southern Miss as an NCAA Tournament bubble team but likely out unless it improves. The Golden Eagles are #44 in the StatSheet StatRank with a 15-4 overall record and a 4-0 record in the C-USA.

During its last four games, Southern Miss helped itself with wins against UAB, Southern Methodist, Houston, and Rice.

Southern Miss has little experience against top competition, with an 0-4 record against the RPI Top 100 that includes an 0-2 record against the RPI Top 50 and an 0-1 record against AP ranked teams. The Golden Eagles have no resume to speak of, with neither quality wins nor bad losses under their belt.

The last four teams into the NCAA Tournament with at-large bids are Maryland (15-4, 3-3 ACC, StatRank #68), Iowa (13-6, 2-4 Big Ten, StatRank #64), La Salle (12-5, 2-2 A-10, StatRank #41), and Wisconsin (13-6, 4-2 Big Ten, StatRank #56).

The first four teams out are St. John's (11-7, 3-3 Big East, StatRank #66), Southern Miss (15-4, 4-0 C-USA, StatRank #44), Texas A&M (12-5, 2-2 SEC, StatRank #62), and Villanova (12-7, 3-3 Big East, StatRank #64).

The next four out are Arizona State (14-4, 3-2 Pac 12, StatRank #74), Kentucky (12-6, 3-2 SEC, StatRank #58), Charlotte (15-3, 3-1 A-10, StatRank #54), and Washington (12-6, 4-1 Pac 12, StatRank #70).
